Wall Street opens slightly higher after private payrolls data

U.S. stocks inched up in choppy trading on Wednesday after weaker-than-expected private payrolls data deepened concerns about the Trump administration's erratic trade policies pressuring the labor market.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI), opens new tab rose 54.5 points, or 0.13%, at the open to 42,574.13. The S&P 500 (.SPX), opens new tab rose 8.6 points, or 0.14%, at the open to 5,978.94​, while the Nasdaq Composite (.IXIC), opens new tab rose 36.0 points, or 0.19%, to 19,434.94 at the opening bell.
